As the Environment Agency (EA) warns of yet more torrential rains and floods during rush hour and beyond today, transport bosses have warned commuters to plan ahead.

This morning saw trees fall on parked cars, several crashes including on the A3 and M25, and long delays for commuters on all of London's travel network.

The EA said several of the capital's rivers, including the Wandle and Beverley Brook, have reached their highest ever levels. Workers were today removing debris from the Rythe, near Esher.

UPDATE: Flooding at Wimbledon station is "severely limiting the number of services which can run from Waterloo", South West Trains has said. Earlier this evening images emerged of thousands of people thronging Waterloo in a desperate bid to get home.

A crash on the A3 near Esher has been cleared.

There are severe delays on the Metropolitan Tube line, and minor delays on the Bakerloo and Victoria lines. This morning the District line suffered severe delays due to flooding.

If Kingston and Elmbridge experience downpours similar to this morning's, traffic hotspots are likely to appear in New Malden, Worcester Park and along the A3.

The New Malden stretch of the A3 is reported to be "just passable" at present though traffic is queuing.
